Shifting Narratives is a documentary by Guadalupe Centers exploring the stories, experiences, and contributions of 11 Latino community members in the Kansas City region.
The film challenges deficit-based narratives by highlighting agency, resilience, workforce contributions, and community-building, reflecting Guadalupe Centers’ mission to expand workforce development, economic opportunity, and pathways to a stronger future.
The Stories
We build that bridge for our families where they can come to us...not just in education, not just employment, but we help bring food to the table
The main thing is for them to keep the home language, and that keeps us connected to the families.
They made sure that I had the resources so that I could focus on my education. What I want people to understand is that success really does come from the community.
