Early Childhood Center
The Guadalupe Centers Early Childhood Center first opened its doors in 1985. We are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. We are a Head Start program and teach Creative Curriculum along with Conscious Discipline.
Creative Curriculum focuses on building a child’s confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills and Conscious Discipline works on building children’s social and emotional needs, both tools that are beneficial in the student’s development.
Our teachers receive training and professional development throughout the year as well as on site coaching to support them in the classrooms.
Our preschool is housed in the Francis Institute located on the Metropolitan Community College Penn Valley Campus.
HOW WE HELP?
How We Prepare Your Children

Parent Engagement
- Staff/Parent relationships that honor and support parenting.
- School/Family engagement that focuses on building positive, goal oriented relationships.
- Supporting parents as Lifelong Educators.

Developmentally Appropriate Learning
- Children learn in a play-based approach.
- Learning is based on the individual strengths of each child
- Program goal is for each child to achieve their full potential.
- Promoting each child's social and emotional developmental skills.

Dual Language Learning
- Children learning two or more languages are dual language learners (DLLs).
- The curriculum is culturally appropriate
- DLL strengthens cognitive skills (following instructions, staying focused, improving memory and using self-control.)
- Develops social and emotional skills; care and concern for others (DLLs use social cues to figure out which language to use in what setting.)
- Encourages dual linguistic advantages, including alphabet knowledge and early writing, book knowledge and print concepts, phonological awareness and oral language and vocabulary.
